TEN TENORS CONCERT
On Thursday 26
May, the choir held a concert featuring ten of
the Eastern Cape's finest tenors. The concert
was an effort to raise funds for the upcoming VG
Choir tour to Austria and Germany. It was a
true success with the tenors mesmerizing the
audience, and even the choir itself! The night
also saw a special appearance by the VG
Orchestra.
The concert
included performances by Mr Sibusiso
Mkhize, Mr Lethemba Busakwe, Zikhona Gqomana
and may more as well as Ms
Jillian Haarhoff
as the accompanist. Everyone who attended
enjoyed themselves as the evening turned out to
be a great success.
All who
attended thought it was a splendid evening’s
entertainment. A big thank you must go to
Ms Haarhoff
for playing 25 songs for the event!

CONCERT IN THE
PARK
VG’s Concert in the Park,
which was held over the Founders' Weekend, turned into a “Concert
in the Arc” on the Thursday evening as the much
needed rain sent the orchestra, bands and choirs
scurrying for the shelter of the hall.

The
conductor: Boudina McConachie welcomes people to
the "concert in the arc"
The weather gods were
kinder on Friday, and the concert played to a
large crowd. Audience members enjoyed the
informal atmosphere, their picnic baskets and
the music.

Most appreciative were
numerous young children who capered happily in
front of the musicians for the duration for the
concert.

The music was blend of
traditional and modern. The ensemble pieces at
the end were particularly spectacular, including
the VG orchestra, junior choir, marimba band,
and the Graeme college steel band and gospel
choir.
