The VGHS camping club spent a night at Horn’s Up, on the Kariega river.  Mr Stoloff and his family, Ms McQueen, Ms Nichols and the 11 girls ranging from Grade 8 to Grade 12 thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

After a stunning beach day at Middle Beach in Kenton, we arrived at our rather rustic accommodation on the Kariega River.  An electric thunderstorm in the distance and a smidgen of rain did not dampen any spirits, and we enjoyed a hearty braai, followed by banana boats filled with dark chocolate, that were expertly roasted over the coals.  Thereafter, everyone climbed into their sleeping bags just above the jetty.

A few of the girls seemed destined to talk the night away until Mr Stoloff threatened to make them set up a tent below the high-water mark.  The morning greeted us with the cry of a fish eagle, and we returned only after enjoying a sweet watermelon at the Kariega River Mouth.
