TERM 1 UPDATE
The Arts & Crafts
group has been busy beading, making angels, hearts, starts and other
items as gifts for children in hospital. The weekly visits
to St Mary's Daycare have been very rewarding with the Interact girls
acting as Mathematics and spelling teachers.
The hospital visits bring tears to the
girls' eyes as they witness unimaginable sadness. These visits
remind the girls of how grateful they should be for the opportunities
they have.
The groups that visit the VP After-Care
centre have been praised by the VP parents who say that their children
do not want to leave school as they are waiting for their "big sisters".
Interact as a society believes in
service, and that exactly what the VG Interact girls deliver.

FEBRUARY NEWS
Interact
has started the year most successfully, thanks to Mr Stoloff, the
new committee, and our new Interact teacher, Mr Mitchell. Our
Wednesday Arts and Crafts sessions have been particularly active with
girls working on new beadwork ideas.
In
addition, our St Mary’s and Settlers’ Hospital visits have also been
going ahead. We have also participated in two street collections (for
Settlers’ Close and Brookshaw Old Age Homes), and are extremely grateful
to the girls who volunteer for such work, especially in summer. It is a
pleasure to have Mr Mitchell helping out with interact.
ABOUT INTERACT
Interact is a club at the school that girls join to do
community service, raise funds for the disadvantaged and basically just
lending a helping hand without expecting anything in return.
The club consists of seven committee members who together
with the help of Mr Stoloff
and its amazing club members strive to make the
Grahamstown
community a caring and better place to live in.
