POETRY & CREATIVE WRITING

Here, it’s all about exploring our imaginations and interpreting everything onto paper ... or web page.  This is probably the only place within the school environment where you’re encouraged to exploit all kinds of approaches and genres found in the English language and still have fun doing so.

The writing club is a flexible space where we deal with all kinds of writing, from prose to short stories to fantasy to free verse. This is really the place to visit if you’d like to learn how to venture into your mind to discover marvellous new things where you won’t be judged.

 This Month's story:

The Madmen who Rebelled by Caramae Venter

What are we? is the question. The answer is human beings. We call ourselves human beings, the top dogs of  Earth. Human beings, the mighty ones, the same human beings that tear life apart, the same human beings that seek its own. Trapped in the cage of society, our creativity murdered by rules, rules so much that they take up all our minds, and the most powerful element on earth, imagination.

So we sat in the smoke, our judgment clouded by the many norms we grew up reciting. Freedom, a word no longer existent. So we waited in the darkness, waiting. Waiting for what? A hug? A kiss? No, waiting for salvation. Until it happened. A miracle? No, a wake up call. I came in blank paper and blue ink. Then all went dark and ten pages after that we were reborn: the madmen, the writers! Benders of boundaries, heroes of the world, and all we needed was a firm grip, a flow of the wrist, and our minds free.
